The Motan Group, headquartered in Konstanz, Germany, is a supplier of injection molding, blow molding, extrusion and composite processing systems and has acquired all shares of Bolder Automation GmbH. The company is headquartered in Limburg, Germany, and specializes in measuring and control systems for plastics processing, with a particular focus on extrusion and blow molding production lines.

Bolder Automation was founded in 1993 by Dr. Georg Bolder, and he has been managing the company ever since. Its strengths are solutions for customers and specific processes. “For this, we used measurement and control technology on the extrusion line, and integrated the material conveying, dryer, dosing and mixing system,” Bolder explained. "For OEM customers, the control and operation of these process components are transferred to a complete extrusion line. Processors benefit from the overall solution when modernizing their production lines."

Since 2001, Bolder has worked with Motan on various development and customer projects. With the Bolder acquisition, Sandra Füllsack, Motan's managing director, said she would like to see some positive effects. "In the past few decades, Bolder has accumulated process technology knowledge and has a good reputation in the industry. In addition, employees have a good understanding of Motan's products from previous projects. This allows the Motan Group to better enter the international extrusion world. , And Bolder can take advantage of Motan's international sales network," Füllsack said.

The modular control technology developed by Bolder can realize networked and precise control of material conveying, metering and mixing systems of different extruder types from different manufacturers. Bolder and Motan are close to the technical center in Friedrichsdorf, which allows the Bolder team to use state-of-the-art testing and development facilities.

"Customers are getting more and more [specific] inquiries about raw material handling systems," Füllsack explained. "This applies to injection molding, but especially to extrusion molding. This is where we introduce more expertise internally."

Dr. Bolder will serve as the company's managing director until August 31, 2021, and will act as a consultant until the end of the year.
